Sotomayor’s Law Clerks Praise Her in Letter
Forty-five of Sonia Sotomayor’s law clerks offered their unqualified support for their former boss to become the next associate justice of the Supreme Court as she prepared to meet with members of Congress tomorrow.
In a letter to the bipartisan leadership in the Senate, the former clerks called her qualifications “indisputably stellar” and said they can each “attest to her intellectual prowess, extraordinary work ethic, and commitment to the rule of law.”
The former clerks — who are now prosecutors, private lawyers, judges and professors — did not address the controversies swirling around some of the judge’s comments, or her decision in the New Haven firefighter’s case.
But they noted what they said was her ability to bring her “real-world” experience to the bench.
